About the Item
Born in Brest and with a scientific background, Haude Bernabé has devoted herself to art since the early 1990s. Her first passion was art, the second one biology. In these two approaches to life, the same engine, understanding the living was at the base.
In her studio near Paris, through various media, sculpture, drawing and installation, her polymorphic work halfway between conception and intuition explores the territories of the intimate, the relation to the Other or the human and relational movements of our societies.
Since 1996, her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in galleries (Galerie Claire Corcia gallery, Paris - Galerie l'oeil-de-boeuf, Paris - Galleria Favre, Barcelona - Artsupermarket Gallery, Hong Kong) or art centers (Maison des Arts, Chatillon - Bancaja Fundacion, Castellion – Fondation Ecureuil, Toulouse - Musée des Beaux Arts, Carcassonne). Her work is also present in many private collections, in France and abroad including the Cérès Franco Museum in Montolieu.

Haude Bernabé
Born in Brest, Haude Bernabé lives and works in Paris. Beyond the fact her works are part of many private collections in France and abroad, including the Cérès Franco contemporary art collection in Montolieu, what strikes through her works as a sculptor is its strength, almost as a “force majeur” of creation. Made of raw metal, cut, welded, tortured, as mixed, Haude Bernabé’s sculptures have this prominent presence of primal scream, scream behind which the mathematical composure is never far. Rushing into labeling that universe of her primitive art would be damageable to her highly personal approach without concession to trends or fashion. A universe in which the intuitive intelligence and the constructivist mindset mingle closely. Haude Bernabé’s work rises way beyond the divisions and categories in a current artistic landscape where cosmetic outweighs the power of the Ideas. Larissa was born in Belogorsk, a small town in Russia and later moved to The Russian FarEast where she spent her early childhood.
Her family moved to Moldova and finally settled in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan.
At 19 Larissa went off on her own to study art in St Petersburg ( Leningrad ).
“Larissa began sculpting in kindergarten from doughy black bread, the only material she could get her hands on. It was just after the war. Russia was still recovering from hard times. Despite the pain from hunger in her tummy, my sister would eat only the breads crust. From the doughy insides, she sculpted a dog, a cat, a tree, but mostly she sculpted the portraits of family members and they were quite recognisable.
When Larissa was 12 years old, her artwork won a national competition for children. The picture depicted children of many nationalities dancing together and was chosen to be made into a national post stamp.
The organisers of this competition came from Moscow and were determined to make sure that nobody had helped my sister.

At 14 Larissa went to the Art College to study painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, perspective, geometry and literature in Dushanbe Art College where she obtained her diploma. Later she continued her education in St Petersburg where she received a Master Degree in architectural, decorative and monumental sculpture.
Her first commissioned sculptures were carved oak based on Russian folklore...
