About the Item
Beginning of the Hunt, Limited Edition of 24 (Signed & Numbered). Bronze sculpture on sandstone base, in Bronze Verdigris. Height 83 cm including base. My art is inspired by Africa and it’s magnificent wildlife and people. Seeing tribe people’s silhouettes in the blistering summer haze enthused me to branch out into human figurative sculpture. Each piece is sculpted, cast, chased and finished individually by hand by myself. Each patina is unique. Sculpture weight excl crating is 8kg.
Previously a safari guide and a self-taught artist, Heinrich Filter has become a welcome addition to the international and African art scene,. His expertise ranges from wildlife, bird, figurative, abstract and African works. Each piece is exclusively sculpted, cast, chased and finished by the sculptor himself. A carver, designer, and teacher, Wolfgang Behl was born in Berlin, Germany where he studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts. His teacher was otto Hitzberger, sculptor and architecture carver. I have seen some his work, particularly in carved wood compared to Constantin Brancusi although this one seems way more reminiscent of Alberto Giacometti. In 1939, Behl came to the United States and taught briefly in Pennsylvania at the Perkiomen School and in Rhode Island at the Rhode Island School of Design. There in 1943, he won the Joseph N. Eisendrath prize for sculpture. He also became a friend of Louis Mayer...Category

- Tosca, Contemporary Bronze on Sandstone base SculptureLocated in WOOLLAHRA, AUArtist sculptor Taking her art from life and nature, Helena breaks down forms simplifying and playing with the uses of light and shadows. Sometimes staying true to a likeness, which is always the starting point, but sometimes her work will take on a much more abstract nature. Often she uses her experience as a graphic designer to create works with a digital starting point using flat plains that are then assembled into a 3d structure. Originally from the UK, Helena now resides and works in Sydney. Recently she has been working alongside Sculptor John Gardner. One piece that she was recently involved in was a commissioned 7 foot high cast bronze tree. They are presently collaborating on various other projects, as well as creating pieces individually.
