After Bathsheba - large, male nude figure, stainless steel outdoor sculpture

2020

About the Item

Reminiscent of the great statues of the ancient world, Jason Kime’s ‘Bathsheba’ is named for the beautiful wife of King David and the mother of King Solomon. According to the story in the Hebrew Bible, King David ruled The Kingdom of Israel in 1035 BCE. Towering in height at 254 cm (more than 8 feet high) this imposing nude figure of a man is meticulously constructed of small squares of highly polished stainless steel applied in rows to a corten steel frame. Jason Kimes is known for his compelling and detailed figurative work. "Public art competes with every sound, color, movement, and any one of a thousand other distractions pulling a viewer's attention away from a still and quiet work of art." Jason Kimes He completed a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Southern Mississippi and a MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University in 2005. Since then he has completed multiple outdoor art commissions and taken part in exhibitions across the US. His work is held in private and corporate collections.
