Joseph
CHILD - Fond Pastel

About the Item

Mixed media. Unique. Joseph is a conceptual artist born in Paris in 1961. In his latest series of creations, the work assigns to the viewer a place, a function and a power, acting as an abyss as the viewer sees through it, and in another way, our gaze concretizes it as such. The engaged work of the artist in this sense, by the use of text rather than images sends a signal to us, giving the intuition of what he sees, the assembly of a work of lime confronted with the stiffness of the steel, which includes the reflection of the viewer. As for the past and the present, the "person within the work" being the sum of their years. This is actually the moment where our own reason starts to see. Joseph is a conceptual mixed-media artist born in Paris in 1961. Trained in architecture at EDPI and graphic arts at Sornas, Joseph eventually found his true passion at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts studying painting and design. He developed his formal training into a striking combination of metalwork and mixed media abstraction. In his latest series of creations, Joseph's pieces directly confront the viewer with mirrored steel and cut-out words, an abstract landscape of concrete and color beneath the surface. The engaging nature of the work, using text rather than images, propels his audience into dialogue with the artist. The phrases often challenge social expectations, accepted ideas of normalcy, and sharp reminders of our most human vulnerabilities.

  • Babyfoot Anthracite Mat

Signed limited edition number 6 of 8. Resin sculpture. Idan Zareski was born in Haifa, Israel, and he has French nationality. Life would take him through many countries, witnessing multiple races and cultures, which are now a fundamental element in his work. His efforts led him to understand that his salvation had always been, literally, at his fingertips. Idan has never attended art school or any anatomy courses. His gift came to him as a need, which he understood he could no longer resist. "I don't plan or organize, I don't draw sketches. My raw emotions serve as the only guide. Ninety percent of my creations are shaped in less than an hour. When I work, I feel in absolute communion with a force greater than myself." Idan shapes his creations originally out of clay, water and fire, to later set them in bronze. He continues to be amazed by the fact that emotions cannot only take shape but be shared without a word in absolute silence and form. Idan Zareski's infamous Bigfoot is a traveler. He spends his time traversing the world to be exhibited. Already shown in Latin America, where he was conceived, and having recently finished his North American journey, he is now on his way to Europe and Asia. His last stop will be in Antarctica, where an acoustic concert will be held in his honor for a select audience of only penguins. It is a call for awareness that raises the essential questions of "who we are, and where is it...
