The Welcome is a monumental bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Marine de Soos, dimensions are 110 × 53 × 93 cm (43.3 × 20.9 × 36.6 in).
The sculpture is signed and numbered, it is part of a limited edition of 8 editions + 4 artist’s proofs, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
A man crouching in the grass while wearing a loincloth is depicted in this sculpture. His arms are outstretched, his smile and serene gaze give the impression that he is about to embrace a child. Along with majestic and delicate touches, this sculpture exudes a great sweetness that is characteristic of Marine de Soos's work.
Marine de Soos creates poetic sculptures in bronze, flooded with emotion. She relates true stories and conveys moments of pure joy, rehashed from souvenirs gathered from here and there : the position of a hand, a foot, the tilt of a head… Whatever the starting image an emotion is unequivocally connected : ” I can only work when I am feeling emotional” says the artist who admits not having “a vision of what [she is] going to create.” Her only guide… the emotion and, ultimately, an invitation to take a rare poetic journey which thrusts the viewer into a contemplative state.
