2022

About the Item

Quebecois artist Paul Duval uses layer upon layer of delicate paper to create these unique and compelling paper Mache sculptures. In this new series of expressive table-top pieces, two men are seated on a rock, facing one another arms in motion as if in a deep discussion. They are casually dressed in shorts; one royal blue, one bright yellow. The artist titles this work in French, “La petite histoire” which means ‘the short story.” “The representation of the body is the basis of my artistic approach. I sculpt in order to materialize the fantasy world within me.” Paul Duval He is a member of the Canadian Sculptors Society and of the Conseil de la sculpture du Québec. He studied Monumental Sculpture at Université de Rimouski, casting at Maison des métiers d’art, Québec, and soldering at Cimic, Saint-Georges, Québec.
