About the Item
Powerful bronze female nude sculpture caught in a transitional movement. The patina on this textured sculpture is a deep blue-black. The modern and dynamic formalism that departs from realism allows the viewer to focus on emotive qualities of pure form. This piece is numbered 4 in an edition of 8. It is available by commission, please allow 4 - 8 weeks upon completion before delivery.
A former student of philosophy and modernist steel sculpture, Belgian-born (1966), Canadian resident Richard Tosczak explores the human form through bronze castings. In his current practice he uses quick pen and ink figure studies as source material for sculptures and larger works on canvas. Reflecting the rigorous formalism of his early training, sculptures are modeled exclusively from a single drawing. Tosczak’s figurative sculptures are in public collections in Alberta, Canada and Barcelona, Spain. He has exhibited in Canada, Brazil, Spain and France.
Richard Tosczak was the only Canadian selected for the 2013 Figurativa exhibition in Barcelona.
