Tall Life Size Alien Metal Statue (77.5")

1990s

About the Item

"Astral Temptation" is a rusted metal sculpture of an alien woman. The sculpture is a great pretender, a fabrication that reveals our need for storytelling and artifice. By knitting networks of ideas, articulating subjectivities, and creating communities, the sculpture reflects our society and the times we live in. It challenges us with competing interwoven fictions, discomfort, and the unexpected. This Metallic Alien does not need to be validated by markers of excellence, nor should it be used for market rationales. Instead, we should celebrate the joy of receiving without a predetermined destination this outstanding vision taking the form of this Woman from another World. Of the female body remains the breast, the arch of the loins, the curvy shape of the buttocks, and this waist chain underlining the female delicacy. The Alien Goddess stands on infinite legs and boasts astonishing feet, with her toes spread wide as if expressing the wonder of her extraterrestrial observations. Each toe punctuates her overall shape with an exclamation mark-like effect. Perhaps the alien is trying to put down roots in this world, extending the length of her toes to ensure she is not moved by a gust of wind while she discovers our Earth. It is a playful and joyful sculpture that will undoubtedly make a unique and eye-catching statement piece.

  • Lucite Flower by Herb Elsky- 1983
    Located in Pasadena, CA
This rare Lucite resin sculpture, bearing the signature of Herb Elsky and dated 1983 on its base, portrays a flower and its stem intricately carved within two acrylic blocks joined together. It could be a phantasmal sunflower in the color of crystal. The light passes through, and flows through the flower, the shape of its head opening to the sky, its central bud, the back of its petals embellished by veins, and its foot on which fine stem details are engraved. The back of the flower boasts a rougher texture. Depending on the angle of view, the different sources of light, sun, or electrical light the flower no longer gives itself only in this transparency close to crystal but becomes tinged with yellows, or red like the sofa behind it. It is fascinating! Herb Elsky is an artist who, for several decades specialized in abstract visual art, but in more recent years combining sight and sound...

  • Atleta 2 - La forma, nella penombra, trattiene la sua forza
    Located in Milano, IT
These are figurative works, of classical or archaic inspiration, reinterpreted using strictly contemporary signs and communicative languages, decontextualized and transformed into decorative elements: bar codes, qr codes, wi-fi icons, @, symbols of well-known advertising campaigns, numbers / formulas, which combine to form the vision of a dystopian archeology of the future which bring the individual closer to goods or objects, traces of mechanical or computer elements, which testify to a reality, ours, which has already happened, already lived. It is like an eye on the archeology of a distant future, or on a contemporary discovery that indicates an end already seen, towards which we can move. The metal structures are supports that enter the composition and the aesthetic vision and communication of the topics covered. The "cages" at the same time constrain but support, they root to the ground but soar upwards, in a liberating tension. ATLETA 2 - LA FORMA...
