Hand Signed Dated 1993 Colorful Acrylic Vasa Laminated Lucite Triangle Sculpture
Located in Surfside, FL
Irregular triangle, 1993 Laminated acrylic Hand signed and dated: Vasa / 1993 4" H x 12" W x 3" D (size is approximate) Vasa Velizar Mihich (born 1933), known as Vasa, is an American artist based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Yugoslavia, Vasa has lived in Los Angeles since his arrival in the United States in 1960. He is an academically trained painter and was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA in the Department of Design and Media Arts. He taught theories of color to understand interdependence and interaction of color and form, color and quantity, color and placement, and after-image. In the 1960s, Vasa developed techniques for working with cast laminated acrylic forms based on simple Euclidean shapes. These prisms of luminous construction are created by composing colored planes within these geometric forms. To fully appreciate these works of art, it is essential to observe them from different angles―the sculptures dimensionality contributes to an ever-changing appearance. Now retired as a professor emeritus, Vasa focuses on his conceptual art practice. His studio, designed to accommodate the technology required for his work, is located in the heart of Los Angeles. He makes laminated acrylic sculptures that reflect and refract light. He has had solo exhibitions at galleries in the United States, Japan, Italy and Serbia, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the Palm Springs Desert Museum. Vasa is best known for his sculptures made from colored pieces of the plastic, poly(methyl methacrylate), which is also known as acrylic and by the brand names Plexiglas and Lucite. Untitled from 1975, in the collection of the Honolulu Museum of Art, demonstrates the effect of these minimalist sculptures. His work straddles the West Coast Light and Space art movement, Artists such as Robert Irwin, James Turrell, John McCracken, Larry Bell, Craig Kauffman, Billy Al Bengston, Peter Alexander, and Lita Albuquerque...

As dean of the School of Art at the California Institute from 1969 to 1975, Mr. Brach hired John Baldessari, Allan Kaprow and the critic Max Kozloff, among others. "Health Formula", cycle "Symbols of Prosperity"
Located in Aberdeen Dyce, GB
"Health Formula" Human health is its main well-being. But a person is not only a Body, it is, first of all, a Spirit and a Soul. Therefore, the healing process cannot be considered solely as a treatment of the Body. There is an expression: "Physics needs physics." This suggests that if you have health problems, then you should definitely go to the doctor and use it to eliminate these problems at the physical level. But, eliminating the consequence - the disease, doctors will not eliminate the causes of its occurrence, since they are at the level of the subtle plane and are caused by damage to the energy shell of the sick person, leakage of vital energy or its transformation into negative. A person with such energy will “catch” any negativity rushing around and more often suffer from relapses and chronic diseases, accidents, depressive states, etc. Our ancestors knew about this and, using the methods of body treatment available at that time, for example, herbs, they also used symbols and signs to heal and close energy wounds, and as amulets for protection and prevention. That is why all clothes, utensils, furniture, houses, armor, etc. of our ancestors are decorated with appropriate symbols. The memory of the ancestors still lives in us, their strength and influence growing every day. How it works, science explains: the higher the frequency of waves in the space around a person and in himself, the healthier he is both emotionally and physically (about the Schumann resonance, changes in the structure of water under the influence of sounds, frequencies of the tertiary structure of the DNA helix, frequencies of brain waves in different emotions and states, etc. you can read on your own). How can the Health Formula help? - In a positive effect on both the physical state and the mental, managing the flow and direction of thoughts and the general condition of a person, maintaining the fire of life in all life situations. It balances the forces responsible for the proportions of the five main elements in the body, and, as a result, the functioning of all human systems and organs is normalized. For example, an excess of the elements of ether and air can cause nervous irritation, high blood...

Musée d'art moderne et contemporain - Saint-Étienne Métropole, France (Signed)
Located in New York, NY
Peter Halley, Musée d'art moderne et contemporain - Saint-Étienne Métropole, France (Hand signed), 2014 Offset lithograph (Hand Signed by Peter Halley) 23 1/2 × 16 inches Boldly signed in black marker on the front Unframed Alpha 137 Gallery is honored to offer this historic offset lithograph of legendary American artist Peter Halley's 2014 exhibition at the Musée d'art moderne et contemporain - Saint-Étienne Métropole, France which the artist hand signed in black marker. Included in this listing is a photograph of our director Nadine Witkin with the artist at Peter Halley's studio. Below is Peter Halley's official biography. What it doesn't mention is that Andy Warhol famously painted his portrait in 1986! Peter Halley is that legendary. According to Halley, he didn't realize until after Warhol's death that the polaroids Warhol took of him with his famous "big shot" camera were made into an original painting. Warhol's painting of Peter Halley was included in the recent Andy Warhol retrospective "Andy Warhol - from A to B and Back Again" at the Whitney. PETER HALLEY BIOGRAPHY Peter Halley, born 1953, New York City, is an American artist who came to prominence as a central figure of the Neo-Conceptualist movement of the 1980s. His paintings redeploy the language of geometric abstraction to explore the organization of social space in the digital era. Since the 1980s, Halley’s lexicon has included three elements: “prisons” and “cells,” connected by “conduits,” which are used in his paintings to explore the technologically determined space and pathways that regulate daily life. Using fluorescent color and Roll-a-Tex, a commercial paint additive that provides readymade texture, Halley embraces materials that are anti-naturalistic and commercially manufactured. In the mid 1990s Halley pioneered the use of wall-sized digital prints in his site-specific installations. He has executed installations at Museo Nivola, Orani, Sardinia (2021); Greene Naftali...

A Man Walking
Located in New York, NY
Shusaku Arakawa A Man Walking, 1968 Silkscreen on velincarton (thin board) 29 4/5 × 21 4/5 inches Edition of 100 Hand signed and numbered from the edition of 100 on the recto Another rarely seen, richly colored mid century silkscreen by Arakawa, whose estate is represented by Gagosian Gallery. This work has only appeared a handful of times at public auction over the past half century. Shusaku Arakawa (荒川 修作 Arakawa Shūsaku, July 6, 1936 – May 18, 2010) who spoke of himself as an “eternal outsider” and “abstractionist of the distant future,” first studied mathematics and medicine at the University of Tokyo, and art at the Musashino Art University. He was a member of Tokyo’s Neo-Dadaism Organizers, a precursor to The Neo-Dada movement. Arakawa’s early works were first displayed in the infamous Yomiuri Independent Exhibition, a watershed event for postwar Japanese avant-garde art. Arakawa arrived in New York in 1961 with fourteen dollars in his pocket and a telephone number for Marcel Duchamp, whom he phoned from the airport and over time formed a close friendship. He started using diagrams within his paintings as philosophical propositions. Jean-Francois Lyotard has said of Arakawa’s work that it “makes us think through the eyes,” and Hans-Georg Gadamer has described it as transforming “the usual constancies of orientation into a strange, enticing game—a game of continually thinking out.” Quoting Paul Celan, Gadamer also wrote of the work: "There are songs to sing beyond the human." Arthur Danto has found Arakawa to be “the most philosophical of contemporary artists." For his part, Arakawa has declared: “Painting is only an exercise, never more than that.” Arakawa and Madeline Gins...
