Anges’ Cousin in America, expressive, monochrome, expressive
Located in New York, NY
This photogravure by Carol Munder, 16 x 16" framed; has a beautiful sense of light that creates an expressive image for the viewer, depicting a quiet scene divided in foreground, middle ground, and background that draws the viewer into the atmospheric perspective. In the foreground there is a haunting figure making eye contact, followed by some houses that create a gap to reveal another figure in the background that is out of focus, all if these aspects come together creating an engaging narrative. Carol Munder (b. 1953) is a Key West based photographer and lithographer. Munder graduated from Colombia College in 1973 with a focus in photography. In 1986, she was the recipient of the NEXUS PRESS Book Competition residency. From the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, she created large-format black and white prints of nineteenth-century statuary and Etruscan figurines utilizing a simplistic camera with a plastic lens. After she acquired a gravure press, Munder taught herself the art of photogravure. Munder explains, "This [plastic] lens produces a soft focus image that is evident in my work…The tree then branches as I work with the process if photogravure. Photogravure is a 19th century technique used to transfer an image to a copper plate by means of photomechanical process... the plate is [then] inked and printed on paper using a gravure press. My current imagery is focusing on wooden sculptures that have been found in French flea markets"

"Nantucket's Last Supper on Nantucket Island" Framed Limited Edition Photograph
Located in Greenwich, CT
"Nantucket's Last Supper" Nantucket, USA 2022 71 x 71 inches (Framed) Smaller Size Available - 52 X 52 inches framed Digital Pigment Print on Archival 315gsm Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta Paper This work was sourced directly from the artist. I struggle to think of an island in the world where one colour enjoys such a monopoly of the building exteriors as grey does in Nantucket. White enjoys a healthy control of the facades of Greek islands such as Mykonos and Santorini, but there is no such thing as a Greek White in decorators’ colour palettes, whereas there is most certainly a Nantucket Grey described as “a stylish gray-green reminiscent of fog settling over grassy fields.” During our time on Nantucket, I scouted for a building that could proudly showcase not just this colour, but also Nantucket’s distinct architectural design. Happily, this was not a challenging quest as the oldest building on the island - The Old House - built in 1680, ticks both boxes. The island’s English population at the time totalled just several hundred, and the native Wampanoag outnumbered them by at least three to one. In 2022 this historic building had clear potential as a contextual backdrop; I just needed a foreground narrative. We have shot “Last Supper” stories in Montana and Texas and this seemed as good an opportunity as any to continue this series, albeit on this occasion, I felt obliged to introduce a maritime vibe. To me Nantucket is about the storied past not the present and the island has no shortage of Salty Dog characters to pick up on the streets and dress accordingly. The central figure in the piece - a female mastiff called Cash - was more than willing to take a pipe in her mouth, so long as there was a bit of bread on the end of it. It was not an easy ask for her handler but all we needed was one second and then to hope that the human talent was all on point and remembering their pose from Available Sizes (Framed Size) Large: 71" x 71" Standard: 52" x 52" Available Editions Large: Edition of 12 Standard: Edition of 12 About David Yarrow David Yarrow was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966. He took up photography at an early age and as a 20-year-old found himself working as a photographer for The London Times on the pitch at the World Cup Final in Mexico City. On that day, David took the famous picture of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup and, as a result, was subsequently asked to cover the Olympics and numerous other sporting events. Many years later David established himself as a fine art photographer by documenting the natural world from new perspectives and the last nine years have been career-defining. David’s evocative and immersive photography of life on earth is most distinctive and has earned him an ever-growing following amongst art collectors. His large monochrome images made in Los Angeles are on display in leading galleries and museums across Europe and North America. He is now recognised as one of the best-selling fine art...

Mid-day, Zuni Village
By Frank Reed Whiteside
Located in Missouri, MO
Mid-day, Zuni Village, 1897 By. Frank Reed Whiteside (American, 1866-1929) Unframed: 20" x 30" Framed: 28" x 38" Frank Reed Whiteside, born in Philadelphia on 20 August 1867, became a student of Thomas Anshutz at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1888-92). He already began exhibiting there during his student years (1887-98). In 1893, he enrolled in the Académie Julian in Paris where he received instruction from Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. After his French academic training, Whiteside taught art in Philadelphia high schools. He took frequent trips to the Southwest between 1890 and 1928 to live with and paint the Zuni Indians. Whiteside depicted ceremonial dances, Zuni buildings, and other genre scenes, usually in blinding afternoon sunlight. He carefully observed the effects of light on vibrant color, using a finely crafted impressionist technique. He was fond of broad areas of color, subtle combinations of hues, and simplified shapes and silhouettes. Whiteside continued to exhibit at the PAFA (1905-15), at the Art Institute of Chicago (1896-1916), at the Carnegie International (1905 and 1907) and at the Corcoran Gallery (1907). He was a member of Philadelphia art societies and beginning in 1909 had a summer studio in Ogunquit, Maine, where he took part in Hamilton Easter Field's discussion groups. Frank's wife, Clara Walker Whiteside, who published Touring New England in 1926, was active in the Ogunquit Art Association. Like Stanford White, Frank Reed Whiteside was the victim of murder, on 19 September 1929, but Whiteside's case remains unsolved. One night, the sixty-three year-old painter answered the doorbell. Two witnesses...
