The Podstakannik (Russian: подстака́нник, literally "thing under the glass"), or tea glass holder, is a holder with a handle, made of silver plate that holds a drinking glass (stakan).

The first thing a visitor to a Russian home would be offered was a glass of tea as a sign of welcome. When served in a beautifull vessel, the welcome is magnified.

The original set of antique utensils for tea consists of 2 glass tea cups, brass glass holders and spoons.
