19th Century English Pewter Tea Service

About the Item

Dating to 1870 and made in Sheffield, England, a locale well known for its silver design and production, this is an extremely well-preserved three-piece pewter and brass tea service. It consists of a stately and sizable tea urn, with matching sugar bowl, and creamer. The tea urn was hand-crafted and engraved by Bramwell & Co of Sheffield, England. The sugar bowl and creamer were hand crafted by Walker & Hall, also of Sheffield. Somehow, it is a matching set. The pewter appears darker in these photographs, than in real life. In actuality, all three pieces are a brighter pewter with a soft luster, that can only develop with age. Each piece is intricately engraved with an abstract pattern. The brass spigot and handle of the tea urn beautifully complement the pewter in a sculptural way, adding a particular elegance to the set. The interiors of all three pieces are in excellent condition, and are completely functional. Bramwell & Co and Walker & Hall were well-regarded silversmiths in Victorian England. This tea service will be certain to inspire engaging and lively discussion at your next gathering. Detailed dimensions of each piece: Tea Urn - 10" wide from handle to handle, 9.5" deep to spout, 15" tall, 6.5" diameter of the pot (urn). Creamer - 5" long from spout to handle, 2" wide, 2.75" tall. Sugar Bowl - 7" long from handle to handle, 2.5" wide, 2.75" tall.
