Color Metallic Silver

These exquisite chargers are hand-wrought by Allan Adler and made of 230.42 troy ounces of sterling silver. Each charger features and hand hammered surface and slightly everted rim. Allan Adler, called the "silversmith to the stars" for his celebrity patrons including Joan Crawford and Michael Jackson, Allan Adler popularized a stylized silver aesthetic rooted in early twentieth-century Modernist art and design. Raised in Burbank, California, Adler learned the silver craft from his father-in-law, Porter Blanchard, a seventh-generation Arts-and-Crafts silversmith from Massachusetts. Adler's early hollowware and flatware designs from the 1940s, characterized by a sleek, minimalist geometry, instantly attracted Hollywood actors, such as regular customers Katherine Hepburn, who took silversmith lessons from him, and Errol Flynn. Such attention led to other high-profile commissions in the entertainment industry, including designing crowns for Miss Universe and Miss U.S.A. and mini-Oscars for Academy Award winners. During the late 1950s and 1960s, Adler's celebrity clientele extended into the political realm. He created a campaign pin for presidential candidate and Illinois senator Adlai E. Stevenson, a golf trophy for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a coffee urn for presidential candidate John F. Kennedy, flatware for California Governor Pat Brown, and a silver hairbrush...
