Vintage Amethyst Garnet Peridot Yellow Gold Donkey and Cart Brooch Circa 1970
By Alabaster and Wilson
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
A fine and impressive vintage 0.30 carat (total) amethyst, garnet and peridot, 9 karat gold donkey and cart brooch; part of our diverse vintage jewelry and estate jewelry collections. This fine and impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 9k yellow gold in the form of a donkey and cart. The donkey's body is decorated with a textured finish representing its coat and features. The cart being pulled by the donkey is also crafted in 9k yellow gold, and ornamented with a multi-gemstone design incorporating four amethysts, two garnets and a peridot . The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and safety clasp fastening. This impressive vintage brooch is accented with an articulated bucket in 9k white gold, suspended from the back of the cart. This 1960s brooch is clearly hallmarked to the underside of the cart with the gold fineness mark (9k) and the maker's mark for Alabaster and Wilson* (A&W), and supplied with an independent diamond grading report card. NOTE* Alabaster & Wilson was co-founded in 1887 by Arthur Alabaster and Thomas Watson in Birmingham. This producer of high quality gold and diamond jewelry remains as one of the longest running family businesses in the UK today. "Rather than regarding inclusions in coloured stones as harmful, in small sizes and numbers that do not in any way detract from their beauty, they should be regarded as adding to desirability, for they provide identifying characteristics." Reference: The Connoisseur’s Guide to Precious Gemstones, R.Wise, Brunswick House Press. Images do not always reflect the true color and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual color and showcases each stone. Condition This vintage donkey brooch...
