Åse Ljones Art

Norwegian, b. 1954
Statement:
Embroidering takes time, it's a slow process that gives room for silence. I seek silence. In the quietness I can bring back memories and find new ways to go. I often work with series, where small changes create a rhythm, tranquility or excitement in my works. Selected collections and exhibition venues:
Nordic Textile Triennial; Regional Art Center, Bergen, Norway (solo exhibition); Kunstnerforbundet Art Gallery, Oslo, Norway (solo exhibition); Szomebathely, Hungary (International Biennial of Miniature Textiles); Tournai, Belgium (International Textile Art Triennial); West Norway Museum of Applied Art, Bergen, (solo exhibition); UNESCO, Paris, France; Tallin, Estonia (Useless Things); Museum of Art, Dalarna, Sweden; Bury St. Edmunds Art Gallery, Suffolk, England (Sting Eye – traveling exhibition); North Dakota Museum of Art, Grand Forks (A Scandinavian Sensibility); Trondheim Museum of Applied Art, Norway.

OPEN EQUIVALENCE 1 - acrylic on cut linen with cotton thread -Abstract Geometric
By Linda King Ferguson
Located in Signal Mountain, TN
In this sculptural piece, Linda King Ferguson has cut a piece of linen canvas into a half-diamond shape, with an ellipsis cut-out close to the scalloped right edge. A red cotton thread completes the second half of the diamond shape, then hangs from the bottom corner, evoking the image of a kite. King Ferguson's paintings are abstractions of the female body. She chooses to use linen...
