This Victorian-era Etruscan Revival locket, circa 1870’s-1880’s, opens to reveal the daguerreotype of a young man. Across from it is a blank frame where an additional photo can still be added. The daguerreotype is hand-colored—the man has rosy cheeks and there is a slight blue tinge to the background. The front of the locket features ornate twisted-wire motifs and granulation, typical to the Etruscan Revival period, and there are seed pearls on the front emblem. The original bail can clip onto a larger chain, or a smaller chain can be slid through, so the locket can be styled in multiple ways.

It has a 21-jewel Bulova 10AX with 1940 date code matching that of the case. Running beautifully following full service. Case is 10k gold filled throughout in good condition. The back of the watch is clear from any engravings. A really handsome looking watch that comes complete with a new unworn leather strap in a black colour.
Strap: 16mm wide at the lugs, tapering slightly to 14mm at the buckle.
Wrist fitting: The watch should fit a wrist size of between 165mm and 190mm.

This watch is powered by a good-quality American-made BULOVA 21-jewel 7AP hand-wound mechanical movement. Online records show the 7AP was manufactured from 1936 to 1944 and features a Breguet hairspring, as used on other high-end watches such as Rolex and noted for aiding more consistent timekeeping throughout the duration of the wind. This particular 21-jewel movement would have been one of Bulova’s top-of-the-range power plants of the era and is stamped with the moon date-code symbol for 1938. This also matches the date of the watch case itself.
The long, curved two-piece 10k yellow gold-filled case includes Art Deco filigree on either sides of the dial, extending to the tips of the lugs. It presents very nicely for its 84 years, showing the usual light surface use, but no obvious wear to the plating. The back is very clean, and it snaps on securely to the top.
