A decorator as well as furniture designer, Rene Prou was born in Nantes and educated in Paris. He studied at the Ecole Bernard-Palissy in Paris and shortly thereafter joined the design house, Gouffé. By 1912 he had become their chief designer and was being called the first decorator of the modern taste (gout moderne).

From those three side tables, 560 millions of years are contemplating us. Done in Bronze by a "Living Heritage Company" workshop, each table sculpted represents a Dickinsonia fossil in patina bronze. This triptych of stacking tables is coming from the depth of History. This handcrafted side tables made in France is patined in black. Each stacking table is signed and numbered.
"One day, I found a piece of apple tree branch. Its elegant, simple and natural form gave me the idea to keep it and paint it black to give it a more dramatic side and why not to enter in a curiosity cabinet. For a long time I looked at this tree branch and told myself thta someday I will do something with it.
