Jens Birkemose Drawings
Jens Birkemose is a contemporary danisch painter, born on 28 June 1943. Originally a student of piano, music theory and composition, Birkemose went on to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen and the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Birkemose's works are inspired by the New York School of painting and are famous for their hidden shapes, some of which take a lot of effort to discover. In 1991, Birkemose won the Eckersberg Medal and is represented at several of Denmark's museums including the Danish national gallery, "Statens Museum für Kunst" and the "Aarhus Kunstmuseum". In 1998, he won at the National Art Foundation, New York. Since 1976, Paris has been Birkemose's primary residence.
