Original painting of a one-room school house by native Alabama self-taught folk artist Jimmy Lee Sudduth (1910 - 2007). Primitive, mixed media, mud and acrylic paint applied by fingers, on plywood board. Dimensions: 24" x 24". Signed in upper left hand corner. Due to his family being itinerant farmworkers, Sudduth attend many segregated one-room schoolhouses, as depicted in this painting. Although he never made it past the fourth grade, his artwork can be found today in the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of American Art, the Amercian Folk Art Museum in New York, the Corcoran Gallery, the High Museum and the Birmingham Museum of Art.
