Inspired by architectural details from southern Spain, this ceramic stoneware lamp features hand-sculpted trompe l'oeil tassel detail and hand-carved white stoneware applique flowers inlayed with glass. Finished in light gray satin glaze with brass hardware, coordinating finial, and cloth wrapped power cord. Fabric empire style shade included. This piece is from a collection of work made by the artist in the first half of 2022 for her inaugural solo exhibition titled, "Spring Return." This body of work is inspired by Louis Sullivan’s ornamented architecture, the cultural mashup of southern Spanish architecture, and the colors and natural interpretations of 14th century craftsman and scientist, Bernard Palissy. Inspired by architectural details from southern Spain, this ceramic stoneware lamp features hand-sculpted and carved, cascading leaves forming the finial, lamp body and lamp shade. The cascading leaf design continues atop the substantial lamp body. Finished in variegated green glaze with brass hardware, coordinating finial, and cloth wrapped, in-line switch, power cord.
