Inez van Lamsweerde/Vinoodh Matadin, Pretty Much Everything
By Vinoodh Matadin, M/M Paris, Inez van Lamsweerde
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Two artists, one vision. The enigmatic and genre-defying work of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. “It is typical of the photographic art of van Lamsweerde and Matadin that they urge their image making to de-stabilize the pristine surfaces expected of consumer culture; to this end they make use, in turn, of the Gothic, inscrutability, androgyny, comedy, eroticism, surrealism, fantasy, montage, cinema, replication, image manipulation, Pop Art, fetishism and art historical nuance.” —Michael Bracewell, from the introduction Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s work has graced the walls and pages of some of the world’s finest galleries and fashion magazines, and if it is surprising that their photographs easily float between these worlds, it is by Virtue of their ease in creating imagery that seeks homes in both culturally elite and mainstream outlets. For some of their photographs, such as their portrait of Bjo¨rk or Campaign for Givenchy, van Lamsweerde and Matadin have worked in collaboration with the art directors M/M (Paris), who have also designed this sumptuous two-volume retrospective set that looks back at “pretty much everything” that the photographers have been working on for over two decades and has brought them to the forefront in the fields of both art and fashion. Limited Collector’s Edition of 1,000 copies, each numbered and signed by the artists. Two-volume retrospective with 666 photographs of “pretty much everything” that the photographers have been working on for over two decades. Additional reader with interviews and texts about the photographic œuvre of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Entire set designed by the artists’ longtime collaborators M/M (Paris) and includes original silkscreened poster, origami-folded over the top corner of the slipcase. Also available in two Art Editions of 100 copies each including two signed and numbered photographic prints. The designer: Established in Paris in 1992, M/M (Paris) is an art and design partnership consisting of Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag. They are best known for their art direction and collaborations with musicians, fashion designers, and contemporary artists, including Bjo¨rk, Madonna, Yohji Yamamoto, Balenciaga, Pierre...

Luigi Ghirri: It's Beautiful Here, Isn't It... by Luigi Ghirri. Published by Aperture, NY, 2008. Stated 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. Ghirri was an extraordinary photographer, as well as a writer and curator whose career was so rich and varied that it seems like a lesson in the contemporary history of the medium. Although well known in his native Italy, Ghirri does not yet have the international audience his work merits--perhaps because he died so young. This is the first book published on Ghirri in the U.S. It will establish him as the seminal artist he was. Uncannily prescient, Ghirri shared the sensibility of what became known in the U.S. as the New Color and the New Topographics...

Stanley Kubrick, the Shining, Limited Edition Compendium of Books & Ephemera Set
By M/M Paris, TASCHEN
Located in Los Angeles, CA
In 1966 Stanley Kubrick told a friend that he wanted to make “the world’s scariest movie.” A decade later Stephen King’s The Shining landed on the director’s desk, and a visual masterpiece was born. This definitive compendium of the film that transformed the horror genre features hundreds of never-before-seen photographs, rare production ephemera from the Kubrick Archive, and extensive new interviews with the cast and crew. “The Shining may be the first movie that ever made its audience jump with a title that simply says, ‘Tuesday,’” proclaimed The New York Times. Never has a film evoked so much dread in its audience with so little gore than Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of the 1977 novel by the master of terror himself, Stephen King, where true horror lies in the darkest corners of domesticity and isolation. Equally a study of the intricate mechanics of Kubrick’s genius as an in-depth look at the making of a visual masterpiece, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining gathers hundreds of hours of exclusive new interviews with the cast and crew in an unprecedented look at the 1980 cult Classic. Slip in through the back door of The Overlook Hotel to witness Kubrick’s endless rounds of script rewrites, his revolutionary use of the Steadicam, the mechanics behind the infamous blood elevator, the mysterious mid-filming fire at Elstree Studios, and the countless takes needed to satisfy the meticulous force that was Kubrick. Conceived and edited by Academy Award-winning director Lee Unkrich, dubbed by The Hollywood Reporter as “the world's foremost Shining aficionado,” with text by best-selling author J.W. Rinzler and a foreword by Steven Spielberg, this limited Collector’s Edition is the definitive compendium of the film that transformed the horror genre. The three-volume collection includes hundreds of never-before-seen production photographs from the Stanley Kubrick Archive and the personal collections of cast and crew, rare documents and correspondence, conceptual art, an exclusive look at deleted scenes, and more—along with a deluxe set of facsimile reproductions of ephemera from the film. Box with 2 volumes and an ephemera set including facsimile reproductions and original artwork booklets, 36.5 x 42.4 cm (14.4 x 16.6 in.), 19.9 kg (43.8 lb), 2198 pages.
