French 19th Century Oak Vendange Table
Located in Baton Rouge, LA
A 19th century French vintner’s wine tasting table handcrafted in France circa 1860. A specialized folding tilt-top table that was used at vineyards and wineries across Europe, providing a place to taste their different vintages. Vendange (grape harvest) tables have a tilting ability so they may be stored in narrow corridors found in wine cellars when not in use. The underside of the table houses a mechanism for bracing the top. The table is nicely raised and supported by its trestle base and thick carved legs. The wood is a beautiful honey brown tone with an excellent rich patina. The table measures 40 inches in diameter, making it a great size for a breakfast area or chef’s table...
