This review was founded in 1897 in the continuity of the review Les Beaux-Arts published between 1861 and 1865; Jules Comte, the founder, entitled his first issue Les Beaux-Arts - Revue nouvelle then changed the title to La Revue de l'art ancien et moderne. Jules Comte directed the review until his death in 1912. Raymond Woog took over , who was provisional director until the start of the war in July 1914. In 1919, André Dezarrois took over this review and was its director until December 1937, date of last issue (published in January 1938). In the meantime, it publishes the Bulletin of ancient and modern art, which has gained a certain notoriety in the community. Biography: Tony Minartz, pseudonym of Antoine Guillaume, born 8 April 1873 to Cannes and died in that city on 13 December 1944 Is a painter, draftsman , illustrator and engraver French. Also known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques, a monotype is essentially a printed painting. The characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike; although images can be similar, editioning is not possible. Biography: Kazuhide Yamazaki is a Japanese born artist who studied printmaking in San Francisco now living in New York City. The artist is best known for his work for The Rolling Stones. On their 1981 American tour, he designed the sets, tour poster, t-shirts, and record cover of the tour album. His unique hand painted monotypes can be found in many important collections including The Brooklyn Museum and the J.P. Morgan Chase Art Collection. William (Bill) van Straaten (1937-2013) founded van Straaten Gallery in Chicago in 1969, a contemporary art gallery with an international reputation. He served as president of the Chicago Art Dealers Association. He ran the gallery at 646 North Michigan Avenue for 33 years until 2002. In 2003, van Straaten moved his operations to Steamboat Springs, Colorado establishing Riverhouse Editions, a fine art publisher. Biography: Janusz de Rola (1906-1991) was born in Poland to a family of the princely nobility. His father is friends with the Emperor of Austria-Hungary the famous Franz Joseph. Having studied at Vienna (Austria), he entered the diplomatic service as vice-consul of Poland in Sicily and is pursuing a cultural and diplomatic career until 1939. A volunteer in 1939 in the Polish forces fighting alongside the French troops, the hazards of war led him to Nice. He will live there after the armistice, to meet with his wife. Then he will live in Vienna in the 1960s (Salesianer Gasse 7), then in the Var, Pignans (the field of Cressonniere from 1971) and finally in Gonfaron from 1981 until his death in 1991. He holds a "Nansen Passport", he will remain stateless after the war. Between 1940 and 1950 he was a pupil of the painter Sylvain Vigny. He joins a group where Picasso whose face he meets. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became a renowned and sometimes controversial artist. The Andy Warhol Museum in his native city, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, holds an extensive permanent collection of art and archives. It is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to a single artist. Warhol's art used many types of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was also a pioneer in computer-generated art using Amiga computers that were introduced in 1984, two years before his death. He founded Interview magazine and was the author of numerous books, including The Philosophy of Andy Warhol and Popism: The Warhol Sixties. He managed and produced The Velvet Underground, a rock band which had a strong influence on the evolution of punk rock music. He is also notable as a gay man who lived openly as such before the gay liberation movement. His studio, The Factory, was a well known gathering place that brought together distinguished intellectuals, drag queens, playwrights, Bohemian street people, Hollywood celebrities, and wealthy patrons. Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books, and feature and documentary films. He coined the widely used expression "15 minutes of fame". Many of his creations are very collectible and highly valuable. The highest price ever paid for a Warhol painting is US$105 million for a 1963 canvas titled "Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster)".
