We scored an amazing cache of deadstock vintage 1970s tropical lace in Florida and were inspired to turn it into a limited edition run of kaftans. Using our classic fitted/unfitted kaftan pattern. There is an internal optional elastic waistband which pulls the bodice in to fit the body. This creates a flattering line which fits a very wide array of sizing. Perfect poolside or out to dinner. Built on a vintage bustier tagged size 32b MORPHEW ATELIER Black & Silver Metal Mesh Punky Crystal Studded Bustier Cocktail Dress

This one of a kind gown is entirely hand made in our atelier. The skirt is draped in Egyptian assuit, a cotton net from the 1920s with real silver hand hammered into it. The antique silver has a natural patina to it which matches the natural patina to the silver and cotton cloth used around the waist which also dates from the 1920s. The bust is draped in 40 year old metal mesh with a pearlescent/champagne color to it which perfectly matches the tones in the antique textiles. Each Morphew Collection kaftan is unique. Using our classic fitted/unfitted kaftan pattern we upcycle vintage kimono silks from the 1940s to the 1980s. Many are hand printed or dyed and some even have touches of hand embroidery or touches of metallic gold paint. There is an internal optional elastic waistband which pulls the bodice in to fit the body. This creates a flattering line which fits a very wide array of sizing.
