Folk Art Preening White Winged Scoter Decoy by Reggie Birch, circa 2000, in the manner of a Gus Wilson Monhegan Island decoy, hand carved of white cedar with neck and head turned back to preen feathers on the back, with carved detail to eyes, bill nares, inlet neck, raised wings and upswept tail; the paint is deliberately distressed and aged to produce a striking patina. The wood is as dried as an antique, and the decoy has been worked to appear well used in the field. Schooling Mackerel by Barnaby Porter, circa 1970s, a sculpture made from reclaimed wood on the mid-coast of Maine. Porter used old found wood to cut and hand paint these three mackerel "weathervanes," mounted together as a school - this was part of an original room-sized installation. The sculpture is in excellent, as made "distressed" condition as shown in photographs. Porter's work has been exhibited in the Farnsworth Museum and elsewhere and has been featured in the TV show, "Made in Maine', and in magazines such as Fine Woodworking...

Nantucket Basket by Harry Hilbert, 1995, a Nantucket purse having a solid mahogany hinged top with colonial or federal style stenciled decoration on ebonized reserve, fine brass hinges minutely inlaid, and tropic wood cross-band inlay around perimeter; double carved wooden swing handles attached with bone mounts; nickel clasp; two tone woven cane wrap on oak staves; signed and dated by wood-burnt stamp on the mahogany bottom. This is a beautiful basket made with astounding craftsmanship by one of the finest artists in the field. The basket remains in superb, barely used condition.
