The fixture is 100% glare-free, with a design based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs most of the light downwards. The shades are made of deep drawn aluminum with white inner surface that ensures gentle, downward light distribution. The downward light is both soft and pleasant. Louis Poulsen PH Artichoke 720 Pendant Light by Poul Henningsen
By Louis Poulsen, Poul Henningsen
Located in New York, NY
Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen by the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He never graduated as an architect, but studied at The Technical School at Frederiksberg, Denmark from 1911-1914, and then at Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914-1917. He started practicing traditional functionalistic architecture, but over the years his professional interests changed to focus mainly on lighting which is what he is most famous for. The fixture provides 100% glare-free light. The 72 precisely positioned leaves form 12 unique rows of six leaves each. They illuminate the fixture as well as emitting diffused light with a unique pattern. The fixture provides decorative and comfortable lighting. For the energy saving LED variant the quality of light and atmosphere surrounding the product is kept at the highest level. Materials: Punched brass, punched copper, laser cut stainless steel or punched steel. White, spun steel. High luster chrome-plated, laser cut steel. High lustre chrome-plated, spun aluminum...

Poul Henningsen Ph 2/1 Pendant
By Poul Henningsen, Louis Poulsen
Located in Berkeley, CA
The fixture design is based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of hand-blown, opal, three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matte on the underside, giving a soft and uniform light distribution. Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. His work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed, and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source. The PH 2...
