19th Century Corner Chair American or English
Located in Lomita, CA
The cherub upholstery fabric of this antique corner chair will bring a smile to your face, but the piece deserves a deeper look. It has a secret.: The chair has a "second skin," in a tweed upholstery that someone was reluctant to remove. The cherub upholstery on the armrest of the chair is actually a shawl or drape for the for the chair. The seat is triangular with a rounded front rail, that is backed by two low arms with raised upholstery. The curved seat rail has a long fringe trim, all raised on four cylindrical bead turned legs on casters. The detachable fabric drape or shawl is priceless. Appraisers beleive this could have possibly been half of a two-piece tete-a-tete chair...
