Heather Neill
"One for Solitude", Oil Painting

About the Item

Heather Neill's (US based) "One for Solitude" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a wood paneled rustic interior complete with a checkered table cloth and a lone oil lamp hanging from the wall. Artist Autobiography: Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, 1958, my family moved every two years thereafter from California to NJ to PA, and back and forth in-between coming to rest for a while in Swarthmore, PA for the high school years then off to Connecticut College as an art major. The only formal training I have is from my college years, when I focused mainly on black and white, finding refuge in the pencil and printmaking process. I went to Boston after college. Worked in the Harvard Sq. Coop as a picture framer and ended up managing their custom-framing department for most of the 80’s. I left there to move to Muddy Creek Forks, a tiny self-contained village in a remote holler of Pennsylvania where I lived in the abandoned general store (post office, train station and hotel all in one building) and spent the next 5 or 6 years as a traditional chairmaker. Sitting on my shaving horse with my drawknife (using only hand tools) I made Shaker style ladder-back chairs and made the rounds of juried craft shows and museums. I can’t count the number of odd jobs that have put bread on the table since then, but they include farm hand, carpenter, bookbinder, vest maker, stripper at a three woman printing company and picture framer off and on for 25 years. My easel has been set up in every one of the 26 places I have lived so far. As of 2001 I now paint full time and divide my time between my log cabin and adjoining studio along the Little Conewago Creek in Manchester, PA and the open studio of Martha’s Vineyard, MA. By the time I decided to give painting my full time efforts I was well into my early forties. My partner of twenty years is a hospice nurse and living with her has taught me that life is short and far too precious to be doing something less than meaningful work. I work happily and gratefully full time, all day, every day, taking not one minute for granted. In the ensuing years the paintings have won numerous awards, been featured in both solo and group shows in galleries in New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Denver, CO and at the Granary Gallery on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard, and in juried shows at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, the Butler Museum of American Art and The State Museum of Pennsylvania. I was selected as a feature artist for the second issue of American Art Collector, and have had work and articles featured in International Artist Magazine, Tea A Magazine, Cape Cod Life Magazine, and received several awards in Artist’s Magazine competitions.

Daniel Sprick's (US based) "Matter and Energy" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a still life in the artist's studio composed of a white vase with large leaves, a red cup, a blue bowl and floating white roses. Currently on display at the Madden Museum through April 28, 2024, but available for shipping in early May. About the artist: "Upon first glance, viewers might think Daniel's works are photographs because of their stunningly realistic elements. However, the longer we look at one of his paintings, the more we become aware that they are anything but a part of our world. We encounter Sprick's paintings not so much as statements, but more as experiences, whereby we engage deeply with his creativity. - Timothy J. Standring, exhibition curator and Gates Foundation Curator at the Denver Art Museum. Daniel Sprick's Fictions: Recent Works includes more than 30 examples of the Colorado artist's portraiture and still life paintings that blur the line between realism and abstraction. His meticulous representation of everyday objects and stirring interpretation of the human form provide viewers a new way to look at the world. • Colorite Spice Rack -- Original Oil Painting -- Please watch attached video
    By Mark Schiff
    Located in Boca Raton, FL
This painting would look amazing in a modern kitchen. Please see accompanying video. One cannot appreciate this painting on a computer screen; in real life, it is absolutely amazing. Because you cannot appreciate it on a computer screen, our gallery has a unique policy. When purchasing from us, the buyer has sixty days to determine if they want to keep the artwork. If not, the buyer returns to piece to us for full refund, and we pay the shipping both ways! A collector should consider several factors when deciding from whom to purchase artwork online. Check the location of the seller. When one buys from a foreign seller, one also has to consider the problems of getting the piece through Customs. There are often delays and considerable fees to pay in order to import the item. When purchasing from us, we ship the same day and you receive it via FedEx the next day, no problems or hassles. When one purchases from an auction house, one pays a buyer’s premium of anywhere from 23% to 28% over the “hammer price”. So when one “wins” an auction for $20,000, the actual price paid is more like $25,000. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price agreed to is the price paid by the buyer, no hidden fees. Secondly, when one purchases from an auction house, the buyer pays the packing and shipping fee, which are usually exorbitant. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price includes packing and shipping. Thirdly, when one purchases from an auction house, the sale is final. If one receives the piece and is not 100% satisfied with it, there is nothing the buyer can do about it. They are stuck with it. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the buyer has sixty days to determine if they want to keep it. If not, the buyer returns to piece to us for full refund, and we pay the shipping both ways. About Mark Schiff -- Animated by photographs that reflect his personal life, Mark Schiff’s paintings are fueled by what makes him happy. Through his open touch and signature blending method, he lends his artistic perception to the original photographic compositions captured on his Leica. Mark’s creative vision has been alive since he was a boy. As a child he spent his summers observing life as he rode the trolley back and forth to art classes at the Pratt Institute. During his future travels to Europe, Mark’s eye for light and photography merged with his passion for painting at the Jeu de Paume in Paris; which triggered his career in photorealism. Mark is well known for painting objects that people can identify and emotionally connect with. His work is distinctly marked by a rich palette and the luminous range of light he paints into his compositions. Each painting is a true extension of his vision and can take up to 200 hours to complete. Mark Schiff’s work has been commissioned by the well-known brands The Hershey Company and Tropicana. His private collectors include A-list celebrities and also corporate collectors in the US and abroad. Possessing a strong philanthropic nature, Mark donates both his time and works to charitable organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Ronald McDonald House, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Humane Society and the Special Olympics...
