German
Following some of the darkest times in human history, mid-century furniture manufacturer Doria Leuchten emerged in post-WWII Germany as a purveyor of brilliantly designed table lamps, chandeliers and other lighting fixtures for homeowners of the era.
Founded in 1945, the artisans at Doria Leuchten worked out of the Dynamit Nobel site in Fürth. Known during the first World War as one of the largest private primer manufacturing facilities in the world, it produced small-caliber cartridges for the German military during the second World War before being dismantled. The company moved to Werkstraẞe in Stadeln three years later, where their eye-catching high-end lamps — sculptural “cascading” chandeliers with Murano elements, hand-blown bubble glass table lamps mounted on chrome bases — would garner international acclaim.
During the 1960s, Doria Leuchten attracted the talents of German industrial designer Wilhelm Braun Feldweg to create its celebrated Avus, Berlin-Serie and Modell 101 fixtures. Mid-century modern designer Klaus Slama was also brought on to design many lamps such as the Doria Mushroom table lamp. Many of the brand’s hanging lamps, including the 1968 Glass Tube Chandelier and the 1980 Pendelkrone, are winners of iF Design Awards.
In 1986, owing to dwindling consumer demand for luxury lighting as compared to increasingly available cheaper alternatives, Doria Leuchten declared bankruptcy. It had been known by other names over the years such as DORIA-Werk, Beleuchtungsglas and Walter Donner GmbH & Co. KG.

Large pair Murano textured ice glass tube sconces or wall lights by Doria, Germany around 1960s. The frames of these modernist and stylish lamps are made of matt nickeled or chromed brass metal. They have white plastic fittings and they take each one E14 standard screw bulb to illuminate. Each sconce has two individual textured glass tubes which are 22 cm / 8.66 inches long with a width of 5 cm / 1.97 inches. One lamp is 22 cm / 8.66 inches tall, 11 cm / 4.33 inches wide and 8 cm / 3.15 inches deep. After years the sconces still bear their original paper label with model number on reverse which reads 2118 / 1. This cool midcentury pair stays in great original vintage condition, minor wear consistent with age and use, fine working and ready to use. They are made of high quality and best materials. Wonderful set of six-light fixtures. One extra-large flushmount, two chandeliers and two wall lights by Doria (Germany) manufactured in the early 1960s-1970s.
Hanging cylinders of textured organic glass tubes separated by brass details. For a clean and elegant look. The glass dishes of the flushmount and chandelier fixtures are made of 'Frit' glass, a technique involving hundreds of tiny glass shards which are molded into the glass during its manufacture. Giving the piece a heavy ice appearance which refracts the light filling the room with a warm glow.
The stylish elegance of this light fixtures suits many environment, from midcentury to Hollywood Regency, from Danish modern to Space Age and contemporary interior.
The large flushmount with 41 tubes requires six small base bulbs (Max 40 Watt).
