Khoury's art is characterized by her masterful use of vivid fluorescent colors, dark tones, and high-contrast compositions that are both striking and visually compelling. Khoury was born in Ohio following her family’s emigration from Lebanon. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Saudi Arabia, where she stayed until she was 14. Sally then attended high school and college in Beirut, where she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts with distinction from the Lebanese American University of Beirut. In 2013, she moved back to the United States and settled in California. She recently relocated to Qatar. Her paintings have been featured in group and solo shows in Beirut, Dubai, Italy, and the USA. Angelo Canevari’s Mirabile ( Enchanting ) is a 39.5 x 39.5 inch leather and stone abstract sculpture. This piece is part of a limited number of works where Canevari engaged in a different medium than bronze. The title "Mirabile” comes from a 17th century quote describing the work of the famous Baroque Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini. It refers to Bernini's astonishing fusion of architecture, sculpture and painting. In this work Canevari skillfully plays with different shades of leather and a river pebble to blur the distinction between painting, sculpture or architectural piece. The piece projects a magnetic presence. It reminds the immensity and peacefulness of the golden sand mounds in the Sahara desert when looked upon from an aerial view. Angelo Canevari is an Italian sculptor who comes from a long lineage of artists active in Rome since the 17th century.
