Antonia CAMPI design. GARDENA model bathroom set. Washbasin, toilet and bidet, in lavenite. S.C.I. Laveno Origin Italy Period 1968 Designer Antonia CAMPI (1921 - 2019) was an Italian designer. She attended the Collegio delle Fanciulle and later the courses of the Brera Academy, graduating in 1947 in sculpture with the master Francesco Messina. In the same year she was hired as a worker by the Italian Ceramic Society of Laveno, where she will remain, covering prestigious positions over the years, until 1978. Guido Andlovitz, artistic director of the company, soon appreciated her talents and offered her the opportunity to start to try his hand at ceramics. Antonia Campi you worked from the beginning in different sectors of the company, designing fantasy items, limited series objects, unique pieces, for the realization of which she mainly used strong earthenware but also porcelain. She succeeded Guido Andlovitz in the direction of SCI in 1962, since 1971 she directed the unified Art Center of SCI and Richard-Ginori and later the Design Center of Pozzi-Ginori, born from the new corporate structure. In this role she took on the task of overseeing the entire production of the company: tea and coffee sets, vases, plates, ornaments, sanitary ware and taps. From 1978 she devoted herself to freelance, experimenting with different design sectors, from glass to metal, to jewelery. In 2011 she was awarded with the award of the Compasso d'Oro for her career.
