About the Item

A fine quality and rare pair of late 19th century French Louis XVI style pedestals by Francoise Linke. Each having their original marble tops, wonderful gilded ormolu mounts depicting ribbons, swags, Lion masks and rococo mouldings. Inset floral marquetry panels to three sides and raised on elegant out swept ormolu feet. Reference; Christopher Paynes; Link Furniture. Pages; 420,501,244,245 François Linke (1855-1946) was a leading Parisian ébéniste of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Early Life Linke was born on 17 June 1855 in the small village of Pankraz, in what is now the Czech Republic. Records show that Linke served an apprenticeship with the master cabinet maker, Neumann, which he completed in 1877.
