Pair of Antique Buff Terracotta Garden Urns
About the Item
A pair of antique buff terracotta garden urns by Doulton & Co. This stunning pair were reclaimed from a property in Suffolk and date back to circa 1880. In a Georgian style, their design is simple yet elegant. The base has a band with smart circles and foliage sprouting from the socle. These large scale urns feature characteristic weathering, and buff terracotta colour, which would look striking as a central element in any garden.
Doulton & Co.
Doulton & Co. have been pioneers of the pottery and ceramics world for more than 200 years. Better known today as ‘Royal Doulton’, the company was established in 1815 in Lambeth, London. The third quarter of the 19th century saw an increased demand for architectural and sculptural terracotta. Doulton & Co. were amongst others in designing a huge range of unglazed terracotta and garden ornaments, including these 19th century garden urns.
