Jean Marais was sixty years old and lived in the nearby village of Cabris. He moved to Vallauris in 1975 and opened a gallery showing his creations. An accomplished draughtsman and painter, he quickly began to model art ceramics in a style influenced by his mentor, Jean Cocteau.
