Neoclassical Bronze and Rouge Marble Mantel Clock

About the Item

A neoclassical bronze and rouge marble mantel clock, retailed by Miller & Sons, London, clockworks by Japy Freres marked with number 15411, 44, and an encircled monogram "CAF," surmounted by a bronze bust of Ajax attributed to a model by Benedetto Boschetti (Italian 1820-1879), over a sarcophagus form clock case of rouge languedoc marble, centering a fluted band and beveled circular window, opening to an enameled Roman numeral gilt bronze dial, raised on a stepped base, engraved and gilt throughout.
