Knud Kyhn
Knud Kyhn was a painter, illustrator and ceramic sculptor. Knud Carl Edvard Kyhn was born on 17th March 1880. He studied at the Artistic Study School and in the atelier of Karl Schröder in Lillerød. In 1903, he joined Royal Copenhagen, Kähler and later at Bing & Gröndahl. He became a prominent designer of animal figurines with earthy Sung glazes. Kyhn died on 23rd November 1969.
Royal Copenhagen
Producers of the finest in Danish porcelain, Royal Copenhagen is a company steeped in tradition. Its celebrated blue-and-white china patterns as well as its famed hallmark depicting the royal crown and three waves — symbolizing the monarch who founded the company and the three major waterways of Denmark — are emblems of master craftsmanship.
Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 by Queen Juliane Marie. Years earlier, after the death of her husband, King Frederick V, Juliane’s stepson ascended the throne. Shortly into his reign, he went insane, and the Queen became the head of Denmark and its small empire. She sought to improve Denmark’s economy and founded factories around the country to promote domestic growth and international trade. Royal Copenhagen was one of the first of these. Royal Copenhagen first made dinnerware and vases with blue-and-white motifs inspired by Chinese porcelain, then the rage in aristocratic Europe. Many of these designs are still made today.
Apart from its classic patterns, Royal Copenhagen has adapted to the changing styles of time and appeals to many different tastes. Their prolific body of work includes Rococo-style porcelain statues that incorporate stylistic floral patterns in an Art Nouveau style, as well as modern vases by such noted 20th century Danish ceramists as Axel Salto. Whether used for special occasions or displayed as part of a design collection, Royal Copenhagen pieces represent a legacy of the highest quality.

- Bertil Vallien Unique and Monumental Wall Sculpture in Glass and Wood, 1966By Bertil VallienLocated in Skanninge, SEA very important early work by Bertil Vallien b. 1938. Unique and monumental wall sculpture, hand painted and contour sawn wood. Made in Sweden 1966. One of a kind! The sculpture is depicting fishes in the water. It was commissioned by an optician in 1966. That is why the eyes are made of oval glass mirrors. They are also hiding the holes where you screw the sculpture to the wall. The sculpture would be great in a fish restaurant or in an indoor pool area. It will certainly make a statement wherever it will hang! A photograph depicting the artist in front of the sculpture is included (see image)! Fully signed and dated 1966 (see image). The sculpture is in 3 parts. The upper part is in one piece. The lower part is in 2 pieces. There are no problems hanging this on the wall. It is heavy but not that heavy. Measurements: The upper part, Lenght 226cm, height 68cm, 7cm deep. The lower part, Lenght 245cm, height 75cm, 7cm deep. As mounted as in the pictures: length 304cm, height 120cm. Total length if one put these pieces after one another, circa 475cm. You can put this sculpture on the wall with different combinations and variations. In 2017 Flint Institute of Arts in Michigan bought the "One million Dollar Boat". They paid one million dollars for the mixed media sculpture "Passage" made by Bertil Vallien.
