Phyllis Hammond 1970s Ceramic "Container's" Sculpture
Offered for sale is a large hand-built two-piece ceramic sculpture by the American artist Phyllis Hammond from 1970. Hammond created sculptures of people inside of various vessels or "containers". She worked and studied at the Kyoto City College of fine arts in Japan and then returned to work in New York.
The head is removable. The opening that receives the head has a firing flaw separation that only extends a short amount. At that spot, there is a chip inside of the opening that doesn't show when together. The base is signed "Hammond". Base, 8” diameter.

- Condition:Minor losses. excellent with a firing flaw that has a separation on the lip of the lower pedestal where the headpiece is inserted. There is an under-lip chip at this separation; this is not visible when installed. This is not an ongoing crack but a flaw.
