20th Century Antique 1932 Sterling Silver Fish Service for Twelve Persons

US$3,144.84per set

A fine and impressive antique George V English solid sterling silver Berkshire/Jesmond pattern fish service for twelve persons - boxed; an addition to our dining silverware collection. This fine antique George V sterling silver fish flatware set / service for twelve persons consists of twelve fish knives and twelve fish forks. Each piece has been crafted in the Berkshire pattern, otherwise known as Jesmond pattern, and features a lobed Trefid style handle terminal accented with a central shell motif amidst a scroll and bead decorated border. The handle to each piece is not filled; the solid sterling silver handles indicate the fine quality of this service. The blade of each knife has a broad incurved shaped form and the forks have four times. The anterior surface of each fork is ornamented with a simple tooled decorated paralleling border. The knives are embellished with a tooled paralleling border in addition to a bright cut engraved scrolling leaf and bead design to the incurved portion. The reverse surface of each piece is plain and unembellished. This fine fish service is fitted to the fine and impressive original hinged mahogany box with a lift up lid and velvet lined interior. The box is ornamented with brass fittings, including a vacant shaped cartouche and escutcheon. Condition This antique fish set is an exceptional gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional condition. The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The box is also in excellent presentation condition and has been professional polished by a cabinet maker. The bright cut engraved and tooled decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the fish knife blades and reverse of the fish forks are all very clear.
