Edward Wood Antique English Sterling Silver Trencher Salts 1728

About the Item

A very good pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver trencher salts, an addition to our collectable cruet and condiment silverware collection. These antique George II sterling silver trencher salts have a plain oval waisted form. The surface of each salt is plain and unembellished, with an applied moulded border to the upper and lower rims. Both salts are ornamented with the engraved initials 'EB' to the underside, in addition to the full hallmarks. Condition These antique trencher salts are a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and excellent condition, in keeping with their age and type. There are some natural fire marks to the surface of each salt; this does not detract from the aesthetic appearance of the items. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each salt are very clear, in keeping with age. Dimensions Length of base 8cm/3.2" Width of base 6cm/2.3" Height 3cm/1.2" Total Weight 3.3 troy ounces/112g Maker: Edward Wood Origin: London, England Date: 1728 Video: A video of this fine piece is available upon request. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Georgian silverware.
