Monumental Pointed End by AJ Stone circa 1906 handmade sterling silver flatware set of 218 pieces. This set includes:
18 dinner size knives, 9 1/2"
16 dinner size forks, 7 3/4"
12 luncheon knives, 8 1/2"
36 luncheon/dessert forks, 7 1/8"
24 teaspoons, 6 1/8"
12 cream soup spoons, 5 3/4"
24 place soup spoons, 7 5/8"
8 flat handle butter spreaders, 5 1/2"
19 demitasse spoons, 4 5/8"
6 serving spoons, 9 1/8"
11 ice cream spoons, 5 5/8"
20 grapefruit spoons, 5 7/8"
11 fruit knives, 6 3/8"
1 lemonade spoon, 12"
Includes impressive large vintage fitted storage chest.

Arthur Stone is highly regarded for the fine hand wrought silver produced by him personally and by the workshop he started in 1901. His shop employed and trained many fine silversmiths who later established their own shops, like George Blanchard. Stone did most of the designing himself, and he personally supervised the work until his retirement in 1937. The company then became Stone Associates, and remained in business until 1957, all the while maintaining high standards of quality.
Stone silver is characterized by its simplicity of form and careful attention to detail. Everything was made by hand.
