Roulette Wheel, circa 1900
About the Item
French Roulette Wheel Board Game circa 1900
For sale in this LOT is one of the most unique and highly decorative antique primitive French handmade roulette wheel board game we have been able to obtain. This is completely hand made from scratch. A very folk art piece of art in our opinion and the only type of its nature on the current market. The item comes with a working spinning wheel that can be detached, the numbers are hand carved across the wheel and inlayed with single panels. The pins are placed using old primitive nails. The main section of the board is made from a sectioned piece of solid wood and inlayed with an ebonised black piece of surface wood. The betting section of the board is detailed using hand painted numbers and sections. The board stands on a bespoke made set of 4 short square legs. This is a wonderful working and highly collectable decorative French gaming artifact, one thing is for sure, you won’t come across another of this type.
Condition: Aged with wear and tear across the painted surface, a patina to the complete item with rust in places across the nail and hinged sections. Structurally secure and in one piece. No cracks, breaks or loose fitted sections to this item and can still be used as a game or ideally hung as a decorative display item. Photos and close ups are provided for your insight and viewing of this items condition.
