Sirenusa Ceramic Pendant Light by Arianna De Luca

About the Item

Sirenusa ceramic pendant light by Arianna De Luca Dimensions: Height 40 x diameter 20 cm Cable length: 2 m Materials: Ceramic The Sirenusa pendant light is inspired by fishing nets and other traditional fishing equipments known in Italy as "nassa". Its appearance resembles that of a floating sculpture and, with its extremely delicate nature and light weight, Sirenusa evokes the images of the fishing nets thrown into the sea. In addition to this, the ceramic net around the light bulb, refracts its light creating extremely suggestive shadows and patterns in the room. The Sirenusa pendant light is built through a very complex and slow process which allows the ceramic coils to shrink and move independently. For this reason, each piece will be unique. This piece has been designed, handcrafted and decorated by the designer in her studio in Rome. The products might show slight variation compared to the pictures as they are the result of a complex, artisanal process aimed at making every piece truly unique. Arianna De Luca is interior design combined with handcrafted ceramics. In each of her projects it is easy to spot her passion and interest for the artisanal landscape and recurrent elements from her Mediterranean background. Constantly seeking authenticity, she mainly focuses on the narrative and emotional side of her designs. As an interior designer she experiments with eclectic mixes and she designs exclusive bespoke objects for specific environments. She worked as interior designer in UK, Italy and South America. In 2017 she started working with ceramics in order to create bespoke pieces for her interior projects. Recently, she launched her own ceramic design collection made of cheerful pieces with bold shapes and vibrant Mediterranean colours. She studied design in Rome and London, where she got an MA degree from Central Saint Martins. Currently based in Rome, where she runs her studio and artisanal workshop.

  • Artemide Copernico Suspension Light by Carlotta de Bevilacqua
    By Artemide, Carlotta de Bevilacqua
    Located in Hicksville, NY
Inspired by cosmology, Copernico’s complexity features nine concentric mobile ellipses that support a circuit of 384 white LEDs, having current travel through its junction from one ring to another. The ellipses rotate independently on two different axes, enabling the light emission to be directed and numerous stellar spatial configurations. Architect, designer and above all humanist, Carlotta de Bevilacqua has been a force in contemporary lighting since the 1980s. A Pioneer in LED research and implementation, she created the concept “The Human Light” in which lighting encourages not only the well-being of those who live, work and interact with it, but also the planet. As interested in science of light as the sensory experience, de Bevilacqua seeks to create synergy between products and users through accessible, experimental design. A life-force at Artemide for nearly 4 decades, in addition to her own studio she oversees Danese Milano creating minimal, yet elegant, products which further complement the built environment. In addition to widespread recognition for her work, in 2011, she received a Red Dot Design Award for the Algoritmo and Copernico. Born in Italy in 1983, Paolo Dell’Elce is an Italian Industrial designer and creative director who has worked closely with Carlotta de Bevilacqua on interior and design projects such as the best-in-class, ultra-low-wattage LED based real and Copernico, a flexible lighting...
