Wall lamp shadow : Gracefully woven Colour: Herb (bottle green) / Violet Are you seeking an elegant surprise in your home? This pendant wall lantern can fill your room with mysterious patterns and light it has a lace like structure punctuated with stripes of rich bottle green, black, natural and purple (measuring 17cm x 32cm). Description of the woven wall lamp Shadow The lamp was designed in our studio by Sara Efia Reddin, the contemporary shape and detailing elevates a timeless artisanal traditional to create an inspiring decorative object. This natural woven wall lantern is entirely woven by hand using a traditional basket weaving technic from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. The delicate open weave stripes spread light patterns across walls. Only the master weavers can achieve the details in the Shadow lamps. The lamp is assembled with care to order in our workshop with polished brass fixtures, twisted cable, certified electrics. Woven with the grass Veta Vera, which is naturally durable. This beautiful Wall lamp is magnificent next to your bed, in a living room or along a hallway. Technics used to make the SHADOW wall lamp Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable or food dyes in cauldrons. The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes. This lamp is takes around 2 days to weave. Why choose this wall lamp… ? To own one of our wall lamps, is to encourage the modernisation of a wonderful tradition, inspiring and supporting the weaving communities by introducing their art to the contemporary design world. Please also remember that the material is natural and therefore we do not recommend them for use outside or on terraces or hanging in a hot humid room in front of a window. The colours are natural and may fade if hung in direct sunlight. Golden Editions believes that artisanal is the new luxury.
