About the Item

Ceramic table lamp, no. 3025 by Gerd Hiort Petersen for Søholm, Denmark in circa 1960, sand and dark brown glazed ceramic lamp stand with vintage fabric shade included, all in excellent vintage condition. A beautiful ceramic table lamp with an intriguing colored glazed. The lower half of the slightly heart-shaped body is glazed with a deep dark brown and covered with an embossed repetitive pattern - you have to look close to see it, but once noticed, it captivates your attention. The glaze turn more light and golden in the nuances on the upper half of the body to end in a light sand colored glaze that continues onto the slightly narrowing neck. The neck features a decorative collar from where the glaze turn dark again toward the top. With this lamp stand, a vintage white fabric shade is included and shown on the photos. It is not original to lamp stand, but contemporary and suits the beautiful palette of brown nuances in the glaze. They compliment each other and gives this light a subtle, yet very powerful expression. It would fit in everywhere, on a lamp table in a corner of a sitting area or as bedside lamp, even as a large table lamp in a office. Denmark has a rich tradition of producing fine ceramics and original pottery dating back several hundred years and one of the greatest was Søholm. Søholm was founded in 1835 and is the oldest ceramic factory in Bornholm, a Danish island famous for its pottery and fine ceramics artisans. The pottery from the 1950s-1960s is often characterized by the sleek lines, streamlined design and innovative use of materials, just as the famous Danish midcentury furniture. The factory closed in 1996. Among the most famous designers who collaborated with Søholm was Nanna Ditzel and Noomi Backhausen. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of usage and age, no cracks or chips. The shade is included and is in very good vintage condition with few signs of usage and age (few stains along the top and bottom rim). Hallmarked Soholm Denmark Stentoj and numbered 3025 underneath.
