Claudio Salocchi for Lumenform, table lamp 'Tulpa", marble, chrome-plated steel, acrylic, Italy, 1971 Italian designer Claudio Salocchi based his 'Tulpa' lamp on a marble square. From here the light shines onto the acrylic surface and the surrounding steel dice. Overall a very geometric design with a balance between different materials and shapes. Claudio Salocchi was a versatile professional, working as an architect, industrial designer, and interior designer. Many of his works and projects received recognition and were showcased through selections or invitations at renowned exhibitions, events, and museums worldwide. Please note that this item is in good, used condition. There are some signs of age and use visible on the acrylic.

Bazzini for the Nucleo Division of Sormani. This wonderful lamp is a great example of the technical advances in lamp design in Italy, starting in the late 1960s. It represents an imaginative response to the availability of translucent plexiglass sheets. The use of plexiglass opened a whole new range of possibilities in the field of lamp design. The material has the transparent quality of glass, while at the same time being less fragile and therefore less dangerous in use. It also has a very specific way of transmitting the light, which appears to be passing through the sheet slower than through glass. Together with the almost hallucinating pattern in the plexiglass, that is lit from below by four bulbs, this lamp has hypnotizing qualities. The family-owned company Sormani was established in 1961 in the northern Italian town of Arosio.
