Midcentury Italian Metal Lacquered Table Lamp by BBPR from Olivetti Arco Series

About the Item

This rare midcentury Italian table lamp was designed by Studio BBPR from Olivetti in 1962. It is a rotating and extensible desk lamp which is painted in dark grey and chrome metal and has an adjustable shade. It is in beautiful original condition. A unique piece which is a great eye-catcher for your antique, modern, space age or mid-century interior. All pieces are looked after in our own restoration workshop. We also can do new upholstery cover or other special requests. Studio BBPR was an architectural partnership founded in Milan in 1932 and composed of Banfi, Belgiojoso, Peressutti and Rogers. Tragically Banfi died in a concentration camp during the Second World War, but the practice continued under the same name. In the 1960s The studio BBPR designed office furniture for Olivetti. This was not only the largest office furniture and machinery manufacturer in Italy, but also the world leader in office modernization. The Arco series was a great success: one of the first system furniture based on steel frames in various sizes. This series also includes the lamp, although it was not produced very often and is therefore very rare. Olivetti: Olivetti is an Italian company based in Ivrea that manufactures computers, office equipment and machines, and application software. It was founded in 1908 by Camillo Olivetti. It has gained great recognition for the high design level of its products, many of which are considered milestones in industrial design. Olivetti merged with Telecom Italia in 2003.
