Unique Lamp Bronze Medieval Style Aquamanile, 1944

About the Item

Unique lamp made of Bronze, inspired by a medieval aquamanile in the shape of a lion. This lamp is made for 25 years service of Jacq. A.D.M. Daniëls as deputy director of the N.V. Nederlandsche Kunstzijdefabriek (ENKA now AKZO NOBEL). Jacq. A.D.M. Daniels Exceptionally beautifully executed and engraved on top of text (Swedish): Till Herr J.A.D.M. Daniels Med anledning av Eder 25-arige energiska och Framgangsrika For utvecklingen Nederlandska Konstsilkesindustrin Knut Evers Elis Jagenburg Boras den 1 June 1944 The sniping capacity of the Arnhem factory has been increased from 85000 kg per year to 800 till 1000 kg per day, when Jacq. Daniëls entered the personnel department of the art silk factory in 1919 as deputy director. Although he was one of the first customers of the factory, there was nothing to suggest that he would ever work there. Daniels began his career by cleaning floors and nagging windows, because he was told by his first boss: "a good career starts with understanding order and cleanliness." Already at the age of 22, in 1906, he established himself as a sales agent of several textile factories in Brussels. There he had the opportunity to take charge of a branch factory of an important German factory in sewing and embroidery yarns. When he heard about viscose yarns shortly afterwards, he managed to interest his German bosses in this. That was back in 1908. She initiated the business in such a way that he had to take his brother, the later Dutch envoy to Turkey, with him in the case. This made the Daniëls brothers the first Dutch people to enter the art side. This also made them the potential customers of Jacques Coenraad, who had focused his company entirely on exports. Twice the name Daniëls appears on the first page of the sales book of the new art silk factory in Arnhem. Although it was the largest order, Daniëls had managed to negotiate a lower price. If the year 1914 plunges Belgium into war, the import and export trade will be over. At the beginning of 1915, the case was liquidated and Daniëls returned to the Netherlands, where he was immediately visited by Jacques Coenraad, who asked him to join him as deputy director. But Daniëls has already committed himself to another company, where he will be able to start as commercial director immediately after the war. A few days after the armistice on 11 November 1918, Jacques Coenraad again stands at Daniëls' doorstep in his Bloemendaalse home to talk about the grand plans he has made especially with regard to Germany, where there is now a lack of everything. And Daniels succumbs. As always, Jacques Coenraad gets his way in everything.
