Spanish Cuenca rug, 1790 Royal textile factory of Cuenca (Real Fabrica deTejidos de Cuenca). Cuenca, Spain, circa 1790. Provenance; Palazzo Volpi Rome, Count Volpi di Misurata. The dark terracotta field with a large crenellated medallion centred by a rose moresque within acanthus and tulip sprays, overall blue and green strapwork interlace within an ivory border of rose pink 's' scrolls and quartered diamonds. Apron adjustable to 32 feet.
