19th Century Renaissance Revival Stripped Oak Armchair

About the Item

Ideal for the office, this handsome 19th century Renaissance Revival stripped oak armchair with original leather. Hand-carved from the seatback crown to the apron stretcher from solid white oak which has been left its natural color that has achieved a great patina. Acanthus foliates grace the entire seatback crown, and the elegantly scrolled armrests. An intriguingly contoured apron stretcher received the carver's attentions, and connects to the two turned front legs with urn motif. A classic "H" stretcher strengthens the legs below. Circa 1880s Measures 46 H x 24.5 W x 20.5 D; seat 19.5 H.
