J.J.P. Oud for C.H. Eckhart Armchair in Leather and Mahogany

About the Item

J.J.P. Oud for C.H. Eckhart, chair, mahogany, leather, brass, The Netherlands, 1930s Elegant Dutch chair with cream leather designed by J.J.P. Oud for C.H. Eckhart. The chair has a sculptural quality which is created by the armrests that have a sharp and pointy shape. The shape of the backrest and armrests is emphasized by decorative nails. The frame is made out of mahogany. Due to their sleek and keen form, they create an open look. The cream leather fits perfectly with the warm tone of the wood. The backrest is elegantly curved, which creates a nice contrast to the overall structured design. A simple yet delightful design that radiates style. A similar chair is presented in the collection of the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. Please note that the leather shows visible signs of wear and use. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well. The mahogany type of this piece does not require an export license.
